Mission

Dose of Play child life private practice provides medical education, preparation and therapeutic play to reduce stress and anxiety and promote positive coping with life‘s challenges.

We help kids find their inner superpowers to get through hard stuff.

 


Position Purpose

The Marketing & Communications Volunteer will promote Dose of Play child life private practice to the general public and share resources that benefit caregivers and their children who are affected by illness, injury, hospitalization or other challenging life events. 


Tasks

  • Create weekly posts on social media.

  • Write a minimum of 4 blog posts for doseofplay.com (600-1000 word count) that includes supporting evidence-based research.

  • Manage Pinterest boards (reorganize, edit pin info, add new pins monthly)

  • Assist with editing and updating child life templates (e.g. edit current charting template to be clickable to help streamline workflow).

  • Support CCLS/owner with preparing for and co-facilitating a series of Teddy Bear Checkup Clinics at a local preschool in Savannah.

  • Additional tasks may be assigned and given priority over above listed, as needed.


Skills

  • Strong academic foundation of child development and child life interventions

  • Basic computer skills, including use of email and presentation software

  • Familiar with functionality of social media platforms

  • Willingness to learn about community-based child life and web/social media design platforms (e.g. Canva, Squarespace)

  • Reliability, positive attitude and eagerness to perform tasks

  • Flexibility with changes to tasks assigned


Setting

The Marketing and Communications Volunteer will work on assigned tasks remotely about 90% of the time. In-person volunteer work will be centered around preparing and helping facilitate Teddy Bear Checkup Clinics at a local school or community center. Events may take place indoors or outdoors.


Schedule

Marketing and Communications Volunteer will work between 5-10 hours/week around their own schedule, aside from the scheduled weekly phone/Zoom meeting. We also ask that volunteers commit to this volunteer position with Dose of Play child life private practice for a minimum of one school semester.


Training & Supervision

A deeper dive into the back end of the private practice will be reviewed with the Marketing and Communication Volunteer at the start of the volunteer term. Platforms will be reviewed and tasks will be explained in further detail. Weekly phone/Zoom meetings to continue throughout the semester, as well as communication via email/phone, as needed. Communications created by the Marketing and Communication Volunteer will be reviewed and edited by the owner of Dose of Play, LLC prior to posting publicly.


Screening

Volunteers are subject to a criminal background check prior to direct care with children and families at events, such as Teddy Bear Checkup Clinics.
